What is Service?

The service we speak of in Narcotics Anonymous is the primary purpose of our groups. Service work is carrying the message to the addict who still suffers. The more eagerly we wade in and work, the richer our spiritual awakening will be. Basic Text p51

How Can I Be of Service?

First, KEEP COMING BACK. Then remain open-minded, honest, and willing to trust the process.

We encourage every addict to choose a home group. A home group is any NA group, online or in person, where you feel most at home and/or visit most often. Service opportunities usually start at a group level, like chairing a meeting, greeting newcomers, or taking a Trusted Servant position.

Grove Group is a hybrid group, welcoming members from all over the world. Our trusted servants live in Dallas, TX, as well as all over the United States of America.

Levels of Service

Grove Group is one of thousands of groups that run NA. Truly, the members run NA. Every member has a voice; it is a true democracy.

Beyond the groups are different "levels of service" all the way up to NA World Services. The purpose of these levels is to "accomplish together what we couldn't alone."

Each level is of service to the level above it. Imagine your boss reported to your manager, and your manager reported to you! That's how we do it in NA.

These diagrams can give you an idea of all the different levels of service available. For example, Grove Group is part of the Dallas Area Service Committee, then the Lone Star Regional Service Office, then the Southern Zonal Forum, then the World Service Committee.
