What is Service?

"Being of service" in Narcotics Anonymous (NA) means many things, but it can be summarized as any effort made toward strengthening the fellowship.

Some examples are active listening during meetings, cleaning the coffee pot after a meeting, and various service committments for your homegroup, like chairing a meeting or serving in a trusted servant position.

Grove Group is a hybrid group with members online and in-person, so we have trusted servants in Dallas, TX, as well as all over the United States. We encourage all members, whether online or in-person, choose a homegroup. This will enable access to many opportunities!

How Can We Be of Service?

Getting involved with your homegroup is a good place to start. Come early and stay late at meetings. Then maybe start chairing meetings.

There are also opportunities to serve at different levels of NA. NA operates like an upside down triangle. It is a true democracy. Every member counts, and every member has a voice!

Different Levels of Service

Grove Group is one of thousands of groups that run NA. Truly, the members run NA. Each level is of service to the level above it. Imagine your boss reported to your manager, and your manager reported to you! That's how we do it in NA.

These diagrams can give you an idea of all the different levels of service available. Below Grove Group is the Dallas Area Service Committee, then the Lone Star Regional Service Office, then the World Service Committee.

Within each level are positions like Secretary, Webmaster, General Service Representative (GSR), Key Holder, Policy Chair, Literature Distrubition and many more.

Every single person in all these roles at every level is an addict JUST LIKE YOU!
