What is Service?

The service we speak of in Narcotics Anonymous is the primary purpose of our groups. Service work is carrying the message to the addict who still suffers. The more eagerly we wade in and work, the richer our spiritual awakening will be. Basic Text p51

How Can I Be of Service?

First, KEEP COMING BACK. Show up early and stay late. Remain open-minded, honest, and willing.

We encourage every addict to choose a home group. A home group is any NA group, online or in person, where you feel most at home and/or visit most often.

Grove Group is a hybrid group, welcoming members from all over the world. Our trusted servants live in Dallas, TX, as well as all over the United States of America. Service opportunities usually start at a group level, like chairing a meeting, greeting newcomers, or taking a Trusted Servant position.

NA cannot exist without members participating in service. "We can only keep what we have by giving it away."

Levels of Service

Grove Group is one of thousands of groups that run NA. Truly, the members run NA. Every member has a voice; it is a true democracy. Each level is of service to the level above it. Imagine your boss reported to reported to you! That's how we do it in NA.

Beyond the groups are different "levels of service" all the way up to NA World Services. The purpose of these levels is to "accomplish together what we couldn't alone."

These diagrams show the different levels of service. For example, Grove Group is part of the Dallas Area Service Committee, which is a part of the Lone Star Region, then the Southern Zonal Forum, then the World Service Committee.
